Meet Father Jim

After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Father Jim entered the seminary. He received his Master of Divinity from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1997 and his first parish assignment was with St. Michael Parish in Schererville, Indiana. Father Jim became pastor of St. Matthias Parish in 2008. 

Parish Highlights

  • Built new rectory
  • Built Parish Center which includes 10 offices, eight classrooms, a conference room, library and outdoor reflection area
  • Dedicated a St. Kateri Tekawitha statue on the day of her canonization
  • Initiated the now annual Carnivale fundraiser benefiftting St. Matthias Religious Education programs
  • Added a fourth weekend Mass and increased weekend Mass attendance from approximately 500 people in 2008 to over 1,000 people today
